Why become a member of CordWeekly.com?
The Cord´s website has recently undergone a massive overhaul and is now an exciting place to view the paper remotely as well as access web exclusive features and interact with the folks who run Laurier´s campus newspaper. In order to facilitate that interaction, however, we need you to create a quick and easy account. This will allow you to make comments on articles and photos and, should you choose, become a member of CordWeekly.com´s mailing list.

Why do you need my name and email?
As is no secret, the Internet is swimming with spam. Without this precaution, our web staff would have to spend countless hours sifting through gibberish to ensure only real people were able to comment on articles and photographs. We think their time can be better spent making CordWeekly.com the Mecca of WLU information and culture that you so desperately long for.

Your email will only be used to confirm your identity and, if you check the box below, add you to The Cord´s mailing list. Once you click on ´Sign Up´, an email will automatically be sent to the address given to confirm your status as a living, breathing, thinking being. Your email WILL NOT be otherwise used or distributed.

Your name will be posted with your comments. The comments are designed to encourage thoughtful discussion reflective of a university environment, so if the comment is something you´d be embarrassed to have associated with your name, chances are it doesn´t belong on the site anyway.

Please note: All comments must be authorized by a Cord senior staffer to ensure no defamatory, libelous, or otherwise offensive comments will appear on the site.

What if I have a good reason for not wanting my name attached to an opinion or piece of information?
Of course, it is conceivable that you wish to remain anonymous with good reason. Perhaps you know of a scandal in need of exposing, but cannot give your name because it would put you in a compromising situation, either personally or professionally. Well, that´s not cool. To help you help us, we´ve designed an anonymous tips function, which can be found in the top-right corner of our homepage. Simply fill out that tip form and hit submit and an anonymous email will be sent to a Cord senior staffer. We don´t need your name, email address, or any other identifying information - it´s completely anonymous.

And what´s this mailing list all about?
The mailing list is designed for those of you that just can´t get enough Cord in your life, even with our spiffy new website. It is completely optional and will be used relatively sparingly. We will use this to keep you informed of things like web-exclusive content that´s gone up recently, teasers of upcoming features and stories, and ways in which you can interact with The Cord as part of our readership - be it through surveys, Student Publications´ Annual General Meeting, or even as an interview subject for an upcoming story! If that sounds like something you´d be interested in, just check the box below before creating your user account. If not, leave it blank and your already bulky inbox will remain unfettered by The Cord.
